Camps are a Go!

We are now in our second week of Campus Kids. This week is completely full. We have had a very positive response to the program. Parents are calling to register for future weeks because they enjoyed it so much. Good job to the Campus Kids staff; JuJu, Luna and Tryke.

Angel Island started this week. It's Survivor week and so far so good. It was a bit chilly on the island yesterday, but running around playing games and activities always warms the campers up. Today they are doing a little fishing, which has been a camper favorite for years. Tomorrow is BBQ and special event day. WooHoo!

On-Line Registration

Most of the office is currently in a three day training for the new on-line registration program we are rolling out for the fall season. We have decided to go with ActiveNet and are excited about offering our community the ability to register on-line. Many of you have been asking for this over the past couple of years. Information about our new registration process will be in our fall brochure that will be in your mailbox the beginning of August.

Ballet Recital

Over the weekend we had our Spring Ballet Recital. There were two shows and they both went well. The little ballerinas seemed to have a wonderful time performing on the Bel Aire stage. The dress rehearsal on Friday was a little choppy. The 4th graders were just returning from their week long field trip and some of our ballerinas never made it. The kids were missing their marks and unsure of what to do during their rehearsals. Fortunately, that wasn't so much the case on Saturday. The kids did a great job.

Miss Erica just returned from an exchange trip from China where she was able to perform and see the sights. We were glad she could make it back on time. Miss Sabrina did a fantastic job in Miss Erica's absence. They make a great team.

Registration for the fall ballet program will start sometime in August. We're looking forward to another great season.

Young Actor's Studio Performance a Success

Last night was the performance for the Young Actor's Studio. This Bel Aire after school program has been meeting once a week for the past 8 weeks. The show was great thanks to the hard work of the students. The audience seemed to really enjoy it. After the performance everyone took part in snacks that were graciously provided by the parents of our performers. All in all it was a great evening.

In the fall we will be offering the Young Actor's Studio again at Bel Aire. Drama games, new skits and more fun is what students should look forward to.

For those who will be at Del Mar we will be offering a drama program similar to the Young Actor's Studio. This class at Del Mar is called Monster Theater. The class will consist of acting instruction and drama games, but instead of a performance at the end of the class session, students will get to play character roles in our 1st annual Haunted House.

If you have any questions or comments regarding any of our programs please email me or leave a comment here.

Paradise Park Camp has moved!

It has been decided that Paradise Park will no longer be a site for our 5-7 year old camp. Instead, we will have a program for this age group on Angel Island. Campers will participate in the Angel Island Camp special events. Other than the special events the different age groups will have separate age appropriate activities.

There are a number of reasons for the change, including parent requests. Everyone seems to be very excited about it. If you have any questions regarding any of our camps, please call us at 435-4355.

Summer Camps

Summer is quickly approaching and we are gearing up to make this the best summer ever! We have moved the camp for our younger campers over to Reed School and changed the name form Camp Miwok to Campus Kids. There are some real advantages to being a Reed School. First is that campers who are attending Reed in the fall get a good feel for the school. Secondly we have indoor space now as opposed to being at Belvedere Park where the kids were outside the whole time. And finally, we have more room to play and lead activities.

Paradise Park and Angel Island haven't undergone such drastic changes. Why fix what isn't broken, right? We understand that once of the most important parts of camp is the staff. At Angel Island most of the staff are returning from last year. We are really excited about that.

This year we are introducing camps for teens and pre-teens. From Paintball Camp to SeaCamp we have something for everyone. One of the best bets for a camp designed for this age are our Action-Adventure Camps. Campers visit different places in the Bay Area everyday. Activities run from bowling to ice skating to water parks and amusement parks.
If you have any questions about our camps please check the our site or call us at 435-4355.

Drama Class

It Tuesday! For me that means I have Youth Actor's Studio at Bel Aire. We're having a great time in our drama class getting ready for our show at the end of May. Most of the students in the class participated in the school play and really enjoyed that experience. Next year (in the Fall) the recreation department plans on offering drama classes at both Bel Aire and Del Mar. These after school programs will prepare students to be in the upcoming plays. There are more exciting programs coming in the fall so make sure you check this site and the brochure in the mail this summer.
