Being prepared for kindergarten is important to ensure that each child experiences a positive, happy and academically successful year in school.
This week-long program will introduce children to early reading skills including phonemic awareness, vocabulary development, comprehension, speaking and listening skills, fi ne motor skills including writing, drawing and cutting, numeracy, cooperative learning, following directions and self-reliance skills. The activities will be embedded in a developmentally appropriate environment encouraging creative play, exploration and discovery. Children enrolled in any public/private kindergarten for the Fall 2010 school year are eligible to attend. The teacher to child ratio will be 1:7. Enrollment is limited to a maximum of 14 children. Nancy Cappelloni currently teaches kindergarten at Reed School. Additionally, she is a doctoral candidate in the School of Education at the University of San Francisco.
