Women's Hiking & Yoga Adventures
Instructor: Donna Simonsen
Now is a magical time to hike Marin. Connect with nature to rejuvenate, replenish and nurture yourself. Have fun exercising in the beauty of nature, and meet other women who appreciate the outdoors. We will explore Marin's most magnificent hiking trails with abundant waterfalls, magical redwood forests, majestic mountains, winding creeks and rolling hills. Quite often we spot deer, elk, owls, bobcats and foxes. The hikes are moderately challenging and average 4 to 6 miles. Participants need to be in good health and able to hike at a twenty-five minute mile pace. For easier hikes, see her ad "LEISURE WALKS IN MARIN". Schedule and directions to trailheads are given at time of registration. Enrollment is limited.

LEISURE WALKS IN MARIN
Instructor: Donna Simonsen
Do you find the rugged trails of Marin too challenging? Join us for easy and fun walks in the flat lands and gentle slopes of Marin. NEW! DIG WHERE YOU LIVE
Leaders: Jim Wood and John Benus
Burn calories and stay fit while helping to beautify the area where you live. Join the Green Team clearing non-native plants and weeds from public areas along the Tiburon Peninsula. No power tools will be used, only clippers and, once in a while, loppers. Primary area of concentration will be the Multi-use Path along Richardson Bay. Three-hour classes will meet at Blackie’s Pasture and jog (or power walk) to areas where the work will take place.
Classes will be tightly organized and participants will be expected to work with one break and wear work clothing including gloves, long sleeve shirts and pants, not shorts. Some projects may involve treacherous terrain and participants must sign a liability release form. Must be 18 years or older to participate. Questions? Call Jim Wood at (415) 789-5032.
Location: Blackie’s Pasture Fee: $20 includes Green Team t-shirt payable to Jim Wood at orientation or on first day.
You can drop in on certain dates but must give advance notice if doing so.
Orientation meeting will be on Thursday, Feb. 28 at 7pm-8pm in the Tiburon Town Hall.

NEW! BOTANY WALKS
Instructor: Eva Buxton, Botanist
Come join local botanist Eva Buxton for some very slowpaced walks on the Tiburon peninsula, where you will learn about our local plants, both native and non-native.
The serpentine soil in our area supports two plants that grow nowhere else in the world – the Tiburon jewel-flower and the Tiburon mariposa lily – but you will also see other unusual and common plants that grow in various plant communities on the peninsula, as well as non-natives that threaten our special plants and their habitats.
Walks will be spread out during the spring months in order to “catch” as many plant species as possible.
The first meeting will take place in the classroom and will end with a short walk to the pond behind Town Hall. Other walks are planned for the Richardson Bay Audubon Center and Sanctuary (Greenwood Beach Road); Tiburon uplands Nature Preserve on the north-facing slope of the peninsula (Paradise Drive); Tiburon Middle Ridge Open Space Parcel (Gilmartin Drive), and Ring Mountain Open Space Preserve (Taylor Road).
Fee: $60/5 weeks
