The great majority of the better club level and tournament level bridge players in the US play some form of the “Two Over One Game Force” or “Western Roth-Stone” systems. A working knowledge of “2 over 1” is virtually mandatory if one aspires to play with the more serious bridge partners. Class will consist of approximately 50% lecture and demonstration and 50% supervised play at the table. There will be homework hands to discuss. Topics discussed will include:
• 2 over 1 and the ‘forcing no trump’
• the principle of fast arrival and exceptions to it
• major suit raise structure, incorporating the forcing no trump
• loser count and cover cards - when to use it and when not to
• fourth suit principle
• the K-S fit.

NEW! Playing 3 NotTrump

3NT is the most popular contract played! A computer study of one million deals revealed that 3NT is the final contract more often than any other, almost 20% of the time.

This class will examine the many ways of approaching 3NT, both offensively and defensively. 3NT is essentially a “race” between the defense and declarer: both sides attempt to establish long suits; both might hold-up taking winners in order to cut communications between hands; both can employ the same methods to win tricks. The focus of each class will be on effectively implementing playing techniques to help you succeed no matter which side you are on!

Come join in this new class that will offer many hands to demonstrate the concepts. No need to have your own partner to participate. Bridge classes are a great way to meet other local players for future partners or foursomes. We also have lots of fun, too.
