Kindergarten Readiness

Instructor: Dr. Nancy Cappelloni, EdD
Ages: 4-5

Being prepared for kindergarten is important to ensure that your child experiences a positive, happy, and academically successful year in school. The focus of this four-session class is to provide each child with a smooth transition process into
kindergarten. Children will be introduced to many routines, materials, and activities that they will encounter in the kindergarten classroom. Understanding daily routines and transitions; playing, sharing, and working cooperatively with other
children; learning to be a good listener and active participant; and curiosity, problem solving, and trying new things will be encouraged. There will be many opportunities for reading, writing, listening, and speaking to develop early literacy skills,
a love for reading, and a love for learning.

Nancy Cappelloni, EdD, holds a doctorate in education from the University of San Francisco where she is also on the faculty in the School of Education. She works privately as an Educational Consultant, primarily with young children and their
families. Nancy taught kindergarten at Reed School from 1997-2011 and has been directing Kindergarten Readiness programs with the Belvedere-Tiburon Recreation Department for the last three years. She has just published a book with
Corwin Press called Kindergarten Readiness (2012).
